Save More Mesa

This special evening supports the More Mesa Preservation Coalition, a dedicated group of concerned citizens working to preserve More Mesa as public open space. For over 25 years, MMPC has championed this treasured 325-acre coastal landscape, beloved by hikers, runners, beach goers, dog walkers, birdwatchers, cyclists, and equestrians.

More Mesa stands at a critical crossroads. While 36 acres were recently protected through a conservation easement, the remaining 265 acres of privately-owned land – including the entire coastal bluff-top – remains vulnerable to development and is currently on the market for $65 million. The More Mesa Preservation Coalition is now gearing up for an ambitious campaign to acquire and permanently protect More Mesa as public open space for current and future generations.

Please join us for an unforgettable night of music while supporting one of Santa Barbara’s most important conservation efforts – it’s time to Save More Mesa!

Our beautiful More Mesa looks bleak indeed! We need rain more than we have needed in almost 15 years! And, although we received a little rain exactly a year ago, the long awaited 2016 El Niño pattern shift has finally happened, to deliver rain for this season. Recent predictions based on anomalous elevated equatorial sea surface…

GREAT NEWS! On April 13th, we passed the first hurdle on our Coastal Commission appeal of the Hacienda Vieja project! After a short presentation by MMPC, and one by the developer, members of the Coastal Commission voted overwhelmingly against their staff’s recommendation of “NO significant issues”. This means that, some time in the future, MMPC…

So many of our supporters have expressed a great desire to do something concrete to preserve More Mesa.  Now there is a chance to do just that!  We need a “big presence” at an upcoming County sponsored Workshop on the planned More Mesa Biological Resource Study. This study, recently discussed in the November 2007 News, has been requested…
