Overview

The More Mesa Handbook is a comprehensive guide to the natural, ecological, and cultural significance of More Mesa, including its history, habitats, and preservation efforts.

The More Mesa Handbook is nearly 20 years old and was created before the More Mesa Preservation Coalition (MMPC) planned to purchase the 265 acres currently for sale. If the MMPC successfully purchases the property, ownership and future management responsibilities would likely pass to Santa Barbara County Parks.
The “equestrian-oriented” language on pages 58 and 59 of the More Mesa Handbook is replaced with the following language:
The MMPC believes that, consistent with adopted County multiple-use trail standards, all trails should be available to everyone and not oriented toward any specific type of recreational use. MMPC does not support electric motorcycles or non-pedal-assist e-bikes on More Mesa because of safety issues with other trail users and habitat degradation. However, until the property is acquired, neither the County nor MMPC can regulate e-bike access on More Mesa.
