SUMMARY:More Mesa Nature Hike with John Storrer
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an informative stroll on More Mesa with MMPC board member and local biologist\, John Storrer. John is a graduate of UCSB and is a partner in Storrer Environmental Services. He has spent many hours on More Mesa over several years\, observing wildlife and enjoying the landscape. \nThe walks will last 2 – 3 hours. We’ll be observing plants\, animals\, and their habitats. Applicable land-use policies designed to protect these important resources will be explained. And we’ll tell you about the current effort to acquire and conserve the 265 acres of the property that remains in private ownership.  \nWe’ll meet on Shoreline Drive\, where there’s vehicle parking available on the road shoulder. [See map above.] \nDirections: Take Patterson Avenue south.  After crossing the bike path and bridge over Atascadero Creek\, the road bends to the left and becomes Shoreline Drive.  You’ll see horse stables and a riding ring on your left.  Just past the driveway/entrance to the stables\, there’s a broad road shoulder that can accommodate parking for several vehicles.  That’s where we’ll meet. \nWe encourage you to bring water and binoculars if you have them. Trails can get muddy during and following rainy weather\, so keep that in mind when choosing footwear. The terrain is very friendly and doesn’t require much physical exertion. \nGroup size is limited to 15 participants. \nIf you would like to attend\, please email mmpc@moremesa.org to RSPV. \nWe hope to see you on the trail!

SUMMARY:Environmental Defense Center TGIF
DESCRIPTION:For nearly three decades\, EDC’s tgif!s have been a staple of the south central coast’s summer season. The EDC team is very excited to bring our community together again in our downtown courtyard in summer 2026.  Known as one of the best happy hours in Santa Barbara\, tgif! features live music\, refreshing beverages\, and local food vendors. tgif! is a great gathering of regional nonprofit and environmental organizations\, elected officials and good people from throughout the south central coast. EDC is joined at each tgif! by four nonprofit partners who are present to speak with the audience about their current work and how we can all engage.
